I have a brain condition that gives me, essentially, a non-stop Migraine. It's a terrible, shitty Disability and I've had to live with it my entire life. There's no real "Cure" for Migraines these days, so ever since I was 14 I was placed on an ever increasing painkiller "cocktail" regiment.
This ties in because due to my condition and the heavy amount of medicine I have to take, I experience side-effects and sometimes the pain doesn't go away at all, so quite a bit of time pain-locked to my bed and there's only a small amount of things that can take my mind off the pain: redditing, reading and gaming. The reason that those things are able to help me is because they're all very immersive and vast, so I can really get lost in a graphic novel or an open-world video game (Reddit is something I do if it hurts too much to game/read).
So there's only been a very small amount of games that offer that truly immersive experience I need to truly get lost within them and escape the pain that I'm feeling, and The Witcher 2 happened to be one of those games! Now, whenever I come across a game like this, I look around really deeply on the web to find some way of communicating directly to the team that created that game so that I could tell them my story and personally thank them for how they've helped me so much.
When I sent this to CD Projekt Red, a few of the guys sent me letters back that thanked me for my letter and telling me how great it feels to hear that their game helped someone in that way (guys/gals, you should really write your favorite game company and thank them for what they do. I've talked to so many of them and they really don't see much but the negativity people put out there). Then I received this:
Dear Nick, First of all I’m very sorry to hear about your condition – my wife best friends also has chronic migraines (but not as severe) and that is a terrible thing. That being said we are truly grateful for your kind words about our studio and our games – I have send your e-mail to the whole team and I know they will feel really proud to be able to help. We know people are counting on us and we will do our best not to disappoint with Witcher 3. I know this may not be as helpful but I wanted to give you a small token of our appreciation :
2 keys for the Witcher Adventure Game Beta :
    http://www.gog.com/redeem/HBP4FRMH http://www.gog.com/redeem/HBSDYREB
(ANYONE ON REDDIT READING THIS CAN FEEL FREE TO USE THEM, AS I HAD NOT)
And also some codes for the witcher comic book (you can redeem it at https://digital.darkhorse.com/accounts/login/?next=/redeem/) :
    2 : EAAUACYS 3 : K4VQVZAN 4 : XD3KJ3QQ
(AGAIN, I ONLY USED THE FIRST ONE, SO ANYONE READING CAN USE THE OTHERS)
And I was so happy for this! They're so awesome and nice! But then I received this:
Also if you would like our game director on one of ours 3d artistis proposed to put you (your face on to a NPC) in Witcher 3. If you would be intrested we would need photos of your face (pls check out the vid to see what kind of photos we would need http://youtu.be/XnGXwlK4vH8 ) Let us know :)
Basically, the team behind The Witcher series is absolutely amazing and I love them.
