The greyish illusion was enhanced due to the nature of the tint that I applied soon after I made the map. The difference is visible with brightness control, as the colors before were a bit more monotone before being enhanced and edited. This map was mostly used to show the particular groups of skin colors rather than a completely accurate and on-point depiction,

The map doesn't say that it represents actual skin color. It only says skin color as sampled from Google Images.

Ergo, calling the map as "truly shit" just because it does not represent actual skin color as you experienced it is a bit unfair.
