In December 2019, I was alone, on a 3-week expedition to the Peruvian Amazon. During a night out I was able to find a kind of snake that I had always wanted to see. It is a false crowned boa (Pseudoboa coronata). In full body, these snakes are bright red with a black head, this makes it very striking and finding it was very exciting. After some time photographing it, I managed to realize that something was not right with its eyes. As I got closer, I could realize what was happening. Both eyes were full of ticks. It is not uncommon for reptiles to have ticks, but seeing so many in the eyes was something new and shocking to me.
