Short first aid instruction in case of opioid overdose:
Symptoms of opioid overdose include: - low pulse and low blood pressure, - miosis (extremely small pupils), - extreme drowsiness, confusion, - nausea, vomiting, - respiratory depression (slow, rare breathing); in severe cases cyanosis may occur.
Some addicts have opioid antagonist (such as naloxone) or ago-antagonist in case of overdose.
What do we need to do?
1) Try to make contact with the person. Don't let them fall asleep. /Make contact with the person. Try to keep them awake. 2) If opioids were administrated p.o. and the person is conscious we can induce vomiting. Otherwise, there is a risk of aspiration! CALL EMERGENCY 911, 999 OR 112. 3) In case of vomiting, put the person in the recovery position. If the person has a shock, extremely low pulse or pressure, lift their legs mild higher than their body. 4) Try to check the person’s breathing and pulse. Respond to all changes.
IN CASE THE PERSON ISN'T BREATHING OR THERE IS ONLY ONE AGONAL BREATH WITHIN 10 SECONDS:
1) Turn the person onto their back and lay them on hard ground. 2) Clear their airway (by tilting their head back and putting up the jaw softly [lifting their chin]). 3) Give quickly 5 full breaths into the person’s mouth. Be cautious in order to air won't go to gulp. 4) Perform 30 chest compressions at 100-120/ min using both hands, on the breastbone, on 5-6 cm deepth, with straight elbows. 5) Give 2 rescue breaths. 6) Continue CPR (30 presses : 2 breaths) until emergency medical services arrive or breathing returns (in that case, put the person in the recovery position).

- ברדיקרדיה ולחץ דם נמוך,
- מיוזיס (היצרות האישון),
- נמנום קיצוני,
